The National Interscholastic Cycling Association is a leader in the youth mountain biking movement. With leagues across the country, NICA is transforming the way kids experience youth sports, using mountain bikes as a tool to build strong minds, bodies, character, and communities. There are no tryouts, there’s no bench: everyone rides, and everyone has a place in NICA.
The Illinois Interscholastic Cycling League (IL NICA) was founded in 2025 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) Project League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA).
We believe bikes are a powerful tool to build strength, resilience, and character. We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to play, find community, and grow. Through local teams, trained coaches, and world-class events, NICA helps young people thrive both on and off the bike: building confidence, leadership, friendships, and making the world a better place.
Long story short? We are a safe, inclusive, fun community for kids on bikes.
Illinois NICA is more than racing—it’s a year-round community that helps develop whole people through both competitive and non-competitive programs.
Help NICA grow in Illinois, and be a part of the movement! Find a local team, start your own, and learn how to change lives by joining NICA as a rider, coach, or volunteer.
Illinois NICA needs your help to get more kids on bikes in the Chicagoland area and beyond. With your support we can change lives!
